Our inaugural session of the Ted Herbert Community Big Band to the Manchester, New Hampshire community was a success! This opportunity for students, ages 13-19 allows them to rehearse, perform, and learn in an ensemble setting and be mentored by professional working musicians.

SCHEDULE:
ALL rehearsals and concert are at the Majestic Studio Theatre, 880 Page Street, Manchester NH 03109.
REHEARSALS: Sunday evenings from 6-8pm: February 2, 2025 / March 30, 2025 / April 13, 2025 / May 4, 2025 / May 18, 2025 / June 1, 2025
CONCERT: June 8 2025 at 3pm
TUITION:
$100.00 Tuition for those who pass the audition and are offered a seat in the ensemble. Auditioning is free and open to both Ted Herbert students and non-students.
Scholarship assistance is available HERE. If financial assistance is needed please submit your application AFTER you you are offered a spot in the big band; needing scholarship assistance is NOT a factor in deciding big band participation.

AUDITION REQUIREMENTS:
The audition material will be aligned with the NH school system’s expectations. There will be an etude, sight reading, and improvisation. The improvisation will be a Bb or F blues improvising over a live rhythm section for horn instruments. For rhythm section instruments the improvisation will be playing a straight ahead Bb blues in 4/4 swung time. Etudes can be found at https://nhmea.org/festivals/jazz-all-state/.
